• Stone Temple Pilots singer Weiland pleads no contest to DUI

  Scott Weiland has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge and was sentenced to eight days in jail. This is the second DUI conviction for Weiland. The 40-year-old rocker entered the plea through his attorney in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. He also was sentenced to four years' probation and must take part in an 18-month alcohol program. Weiland came to fame as the lead singer of 1990s Stone Temple Pilots, who regrouped after Weiland split this month from Velvet Revolver, a band also featuring former members of Guns N' Roses. Stone Temple Pilots are scheduled to embark on a 65-city tour May 17. Weiland must serve his jail time by May 28. Weiland was arrested Nov. 21 on a San Fernando Valley freeway off-ramp. • Barron Hilton, Paris Hilton’s brother, pleads guilty to DUI

  Barron Hilton, 18, pleaded guilty, April 9, to two misdemeanors stemming from a drunken-driving incident in Malibu and will spend months taking alcohol education programs and will lose his license for a year. He was not in court as his lawyer entered his pleas to drunken driving and possessing a false driver’s license and two other counts of driving under the influence and being an unlicensed driver at the time were dismissed. He was sentenced to three years of probation, fined about $2,000 and ordered to attend a three-month alcohol education program, another one involving a visit to a morgue and a third run by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.   Hilton was arrested Feb. 12 after his Mercedes-Benz was spotted weaving on Pacific Coast Highway. • DUI suspect arrested in Larkspur after crashing into cars, signal and getting stuck

  A Larkspur man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of drunken driving after the vehicle he was driving struck two parked cars and a light signal early Saturday. Andrew Morrison, 39, was taken to Marin General Hospital after the 12:44 a.m. crash at 1599 Sir Francisco Drake Blvd. near the San Anselmo-Fairfax border, according to San Anselmo police. Morrison was injured when the air bag of his car deployed, checked at the hospital and then booked, police said.
