Mill Valley Driver faces DUI charge in Highway 101 rollover

A Mill Valley man critically injured last month in a crash on Highway 101 has been charged with driving while intoxicated, prosecutors said.

Christopher Twilling, 43, is scheduled to be arraigned June 30 on charges of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 percent or higher, said Deputy District Attorney Kevin O'Hara.

O'Hara declined to say what Twilling's blood alcohol level was.

The crash occurred at 8:25 a.m. May 14 just south of the Tamalpais Drive overcrossing. Police said Twilling, heading north in a 2001 Ford Explorer, was seen weaving in and out of traffic when he sideswiped a Toyota Corolla, overturned in the northbound fast lane, went over the median and landed in the southbound fast lane.

Twilling suffered major head injuries, including a fractured skull. He remained at Marin General Hospital until June 2, when he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, said Kathryn Graham, a spokeswoman for MGH
