Antonio Concepcion Escobar, a San Pablo resident, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, causing injuries. Bail was set at $50,000.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. at St. Anselm School at 40 Belle Ave. Police said a red Chevy pickup truck struck a curb on Richmond Road, went over some bushes and small trees and smacked into the gymnasium's cinder block wall.

The impact of the crash punched a hole through the wall and sent a small piece of cinder block toward an 11-year-old boy playing football in the gym, police said. Firefighters treated the boy for minor injuries to his ankle.

Escobar was arrested at the scene and treated for minor injuries before being booked into jail.

  • Man arrested on DUI after early-morning pursuit on Panoramic Highway

A Massachusetts man was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading California Highway Patrol on a winding 30-minute car chase from Stinson Beach to Mill Valley, police said.

Neal Banks, 42, of Brookline, Mass. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and evading police at 2:12 a.m. after officers maneuvered around his white Mazda Protege and forced it to a stop by bumping it near the southbound Highway 101 onramp at Highway 1 in Mill Valley, said Officer Patrick Roth of the Marin CHP. No injuries were reported.

Roth said Banks displayed symptoms of intoxication when he was stopped at 1:42 a.m. by CHP officers assisting a tow truck with an overturned vehicle in a ditch on Highway 1 north of Stinson Beach.

He said Banks initially refused to provide his license when an officer requested it. Then, after handing it to the officer after a second request, "he took off," Roth said.

Roth said officers gave chase at 25 to 40 mph as the pursuit wound along southbound Highway 1, Panoramic Highway and into Mill Valley before coming to an end.
