A 65-year-old San Geronimo man was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk into a traffic light at a San Anselmo intersection Thursday night.
Stephen Robertson was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after San Anselmo police responded to a collision report at 9:28 p.m. involving his green BMW X5 sport utility vehicle and a light post at the corner of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Butterfield Road.
Officers reported that the vehicle hit a curb before striking the pole with enough force to shear it from its foundation. The vehicle wound up in a westbound lane of Sir Francis Drake.
